Mission    

Chinook Sexual Assault Centre (CSAC) is a stand-alone organization that provides leadership, advocacy and comprehensive services specific to victims of sexual violence within Southwestern Alberta.

Values      

To fulfill the Vision and Mission of the Chinook Sexual Assault Centre, we value and believe in: 

  • creating a dynamic model of inclusive service delivery for all impacted by sexual violence. (All refers to people of every age, ethnicity, ability, religion, culture, gender, gender identity and sexual orientation)

Goals

To provide leadership, coordination and exemplary services specific to sexual violence including prevention strategies

  • To educate people in southwestern Alberta about gender-based violence while encouraging healthy relationships
  • To create trust with the CSAC in Southwest Alberta through the provision a safe, inclusive, knowledgeable and professional resource for victims of sexual violence, their families and communities
  • To be a strong and action-oriented voice for all impacted by sexual violence though systems, policy and processes.

Chinook Child Advocacy Centre is under development and will commence operations to the public April 2021. Currently we are developing the model, key partnerships with policing agencies, children services, Blood Tribe CSFA, Piikani CFSA, Crown Prosecutor's Office, Alberta Health Services. Operated as a program of Chinook Sexual Assault Centre,

Chinook Child Advocacy Centre (CCAC) will provide an innovative response to child abuse investigations in Southwestern Alberta. Working in partnership between community and government agencies, we bring together professionals involved in child abuse cases, for a coordinated, multidisciplinary response to child abuse victims in Southwestern Alberta. Collaborating with police, crown, child protection (including relevant Designated First Nations), medical, and mental health agencies we will provide an individualized and child-friendly response for every child who has experienced abuse. Working with children, youth and the non-offending family members through a trauma informed and child friendly approach, we support the children/youth to tell their stories and access support throughout the process of disclosure, investigation, court process and their healing journey. The CCAC coordinated response and support services assists in minimizing the impact of trauma on the child/youth, supports healing and increases the success of outcomes in the criminal justice system.
